Your comments so far:

There are no words to describe your feelings.Even though you don't personally know these people it leaves you with a sick empty feeling wishing that you could do something to helpor offer the family your deepest sympathy. All you can do is to pray that this never happens again because this is unbearable .

Susan Pittman

I pray that God in his infinite love scooped the 7 members of this crew in his arms and took them directly to heaven.

I mourn thier loss and admire thier courage to do thier job.

Irene Bates

There is not a minute that goes by that the astronauts, all the loved ones, famlies, and friends, don't go through my mind. I have prayed many time for all of them. My love and good thoughts of peace and harmony are sent to them.

THERE ARE NO WORDS THAT CAN EXPRESS OUR HEART FELT SADNESS OVER THE LOSS OF THE CREW OF THE COLUMBIA! IT WILL HAVE TO BE ENOUGH JUST TO KNOW THAT OUR HEARTS AND PRAYERS OF OUR FAMILY ARE WITH THE FAMILIES OF THE CREW OF THIS SAD MISSION. ONLY GOD CAN KNOW WHAT THE WORLD HAS LOST.

ROY F BURTNETT CHIEF DEPUTY SHERIFF (RETIRED)

Our sympathy, prayers and love to the families of the Columbia Crew. We mourn with you and acknowledge the huge sacrifice that has been made on our behalf for the betterment of all mankind. The Columbia Crew are truly shining stars whose light will always shine brightly. They will live on in all of our hearts.

E & M Krick

As an American and a fan of the space program I send my deepest sympathies to the families, coworkers, friends of the shuttle crew, and to fellow Americans who feel the same way I do. I had the privilage of seeing one shuttle launch...the one that took John Glen back into space. It was an awsome sight.

They will not be forgotten, they are all my heros.

Lynn Cloutier

My prayers go out to the families of all the astronauts. I live in Nacogdoches and everyone here was saddened to see such a tragic scene of all the falling debris. Everyone says that now Nacogdoches is being recognized, butI say if this is the way for us to be recognized I'd rather we go on being unknown.

Janice Mitchell

May the progress of mankind recognise the high personal cost bourne by these selfless figures whose efforts are for us all.

Omar Salam

As I watched the tragedy unfold on TV I was reminded once again how tomorrow is not a guarantee and I hurt intensely for these people and their families. I turned to music to help me and I played my favorite song...which once again seemed so appropiate for this time. The song is "To Where You Are" ..by Josh Groban. The words have comforted me through personal loss and through America's suffering as well. The song begins..." Who can say for certain..maybe you're still here..I feel you all around me...your memory so clear"...I hope we will always remember these 7 brave astronauts..God Bless.

The best memorial our nation and our planet could build in honor of the seven brave astronauts who died yesterday would be for us to recommit ourselves to their goals. We should rededicate ourselves to their vision -- a vision of humanity expanding outward, to explore our solar system and our universe. For the sake of the crew of STS-107 and for the sake of all humankind, let's give our space program a destination. May the memory of Columbia astronauts join the memory of the Challenger and Apollo 1 astronauts to serve as a guiding light for decades and centuries to come.

Bob Kopp

I am heartbroken. I feel so sorry for the familes of these brave travellers. Please extend my sympathies.

Roxanne

Since I was a child i have wanted to go to space those people died doing what many dreamed.....god bless.

Martin and Kath

My thoughts and prayers are with all the families of the crew and everyone working on the space program. Please know they did not die in vain. Their work and their family's support will live on in everyone who unselfishly reaches for the stars for the greater good.

DeeAnna

I am deeply saddened by the tragedy of Columbia and the loss of its crew. My heart and prayers go out to the families, friends, and NASA. I believe as President Bush. Columbia and its crew may not have come safely back to earth, but they are safe with our heavenly Father. God Bless the seven astronauts, the families, the friends, all of NASA and GOD BLESS THE USA.

Linda

I just want to express my deepest sympathy to the Familes of the lost Shuttle Columbia's crew. They made a difference in this world and they will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with the Families. God Bless You All.

I came home from shopping to see the video of the Columbia tragedy. Having remembered the Challenger diaster, I pray for all of those affected by this loss, including the families, friends and loved ones of the crew members. May God be with you in your time of sorrow.

High Flight
Oh!
I have slippped the surly bonds of earth
and danced the skies on laughter-covered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds--and done a hundred things.
You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung.
High in the sunlight silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue
I've topeed the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew--
And while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sancity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
John Gillespie Magee Jr. 1941

I was at work when I heard the tragic news of the shuttle..and it brought back so clearly the other tragedy in Jan. of 1986. I had just buried my Mom and the sadness of losing her and then the Astronauts deaths on top of it was almost too much to bear. My heart goes out to the families of the "Fallen Heros" and I have sent a beautiful card to all of my friends with a prayer for them. No words can lessen their sadness or make the loss of a loved one easier to bear. May God take their souls into his care and help those left behind to cope with this horrible accident.

Barbara Jenkins

THANK YOU COLUMBIA CREW FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO THE EXPLORATION SPACE AND FOR YOUR PART IN THE EVOLUTION OF HUMANITY YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. GOD BLESS MANKIND.

THOMAS REBEK

My thoughts and prayers are with the family members of the astronauts. My thoughts and prayers are also with our nation as a whole...we have all been affected in some way. For me, the stark memories of Challenger resurfaced. Such a tragedy then, and such a tragedy today. I hope that we can all begin to work toward healing thoughts. Such brilliant minds and courageous hearts are now stilled. Let us not forget what these men and women were doing and what they stood for. Love to everyone.

Donna F. Campbell

I feel great sorrow for the loss of some of what I consider the bravest people we shall ever know on this small planet of ours. God Speed Columbia and crew. You shall always be remembered. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of the crew. My prayers are with you in your time of great loss.

Tim Burgess

In this time of senseless loss my prayers go out to the families of these seven brave souls. Their courage will never be forgotten. They gave up their lives to try and make the worlds future brighter. May God wrap them in his arms and may he also watch over their families.

Many years ago a movie 2001 prompted Pan Am to reserve seats on the first Pan Am shuttle to the Moon. I made a reservation ! And with great pride over the years I had told everyone I know that I wanted to go. Little did I know that I would work 11 years for Pan Am and endure the loss of Pan Am 103. The tragedy of loosing the Columbia and her crew is for me equal in magnitude. To retreat from the progress that that they gave their lives for it tantamount to surrendering to the forces of terrorism in the world today. NASSA must continue to move forward with much better safety in mind. It is my hope that you will share what I have writen.

Barry Leonard

I just wanted to extend my thoughts and prayers to the families of the astronauts. They are the bravest of all, to let there loved ones follow their dreams in spite of the dangers. I also wish for peace to come to those who must investigate this tragedy. I give my full support to NASA and encourage the surrounding community/family to find strength in each other to make new strides in our space program. NASA's space programs are something we as Americans can be proud of. Astronauts are the real heroes! Please put their safety at the top of the list and the budget!!

Jennifer Edwards

May these 7 brave souls rest safely with God amoung the heavens they willing went to explore. Through their deeds and their lives shall we find hope to carry on in our quest to discover our universe and all it holds. God Bless their families and to each and everyone of us.
