Indian PSLV-C16 Launch of Resourcesat-2, X-Sat, Youthsat

April 9, 2011 Update: The launch has been delayed from January 20, February 1, February 20, February 24 and March 20th but is now set for April 20.

The Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) designated C16 will launch the Resourcesat-2, X-Sat, Youthsat satellites.

Resourcesat-2 is an Indian advanced remote sensing satellite and meant to replace Resourcesat-1. Resourcesat's images are used agricultural applications including vegetation dynamics, crop yield estimates as well as disaster management support.

Youthsat is a joint Indian-Russian micro satellite carrying two Indian payloads and one Russian payload and has participation from universities at graduate, postgraduate and research scholar level.

X-Sat is the first Singapore micro satellite and is a technology demonstration mission of the Centre for Research in Satellite Technologies (CREST).
