Category: Astrobiology and Life Sciences
Event Format: Conference
Date: 8-10 June 2012
Location: University of Alaska, Anchorage, Anchorage, AK US
Purpose: A major goal of this workshop is to build a community for astrobiology educators through a workshop focused on undergraduate astrobiology teaching and learning at the college/university level. This workshop is a forum for educators (current and future) to exchange experiences, ideas and curriculum materials.
Why Anchorage?: The workshop is being held in Anchorage immediately before the 220th AAS meeting (June 10-14). The motivation to hold the workshop at this time and in this location is to capitalize on having so many members of the astronomical community in the area for AAS. Many astrobiology educators come from an astronomy background, and may not attend astrobiology meetings like the Astrobiology Science Conference. This workshop aims to bridge across the disciplines from astronomy to biology.
