National Air and Space Museum Receives Artifact From Virgin Galactic

WHAT:          National Air and Space Museum will host a donation ceremony with Virgin Galactic to unveil a new artifact for the upcoming “Our Future in Space” exhibition

The National Air and Space Museum with Richard Branson will unveil the artifact Virgin Galactic has donated to the museum for display in the “Our Future of Space” exhibition. This exhibition is scheduled to open in 2024 as part of the museum’s renovation of its building on the National Mall. The artifact will be available for photos in the Moving Beyond Earth gallery at the unveiling and will then be transferred to the museum’s Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia, for temporary display.


As part of the program, Stofan and Branson will give remarks, and the pilots of SpaceShipTwo and two of Virgin Galactic’s future astronauts will conduct a panel discussion on the future of commercial spaceflight. The event will be open to the public and live streamed on the museum’s website.
