Advanced Tether Experiment (ATEx) - ATEx was launched on October 3, 1998. and was intended to demonstrate deployment and survivability of a novel tether design as well as controlled libration maneuvers. The satellite subsequently failed. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).

Space Tethers - This article by Robert L. Forward and Robert P. Hoyt appeared in the February 1999 issue of Scientific American and deals with the use of tethers as an alternative to chemical propulsion for retrieving satellites and moving payloads in space.

Tether Physics and Survivability Experiment (TiPS) - The TiPS satellite is a tether physics experiment designed to increase knowledge about gravity-gradient tether dynamics and the survivability of tethers in space. The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

Tethered Satellite System (TSS) - TSS consisted of a satellite, a conducting tether, and a tether deployment/retrieval system flown on the Space Shuttle.
