IAU
European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) - An initiative established to develop a coherent, single set of user-friendly standards for use in all European space activities
European Science Foundation (ESF) - ESF promotes high quality science at a European level. It acts as a catalyst for the development of science by bringing together leading scientists and funding agencies to debate, plan and implement pan-European initiatives.
European Space Science Committee (ESSC) - ESSC is an associated committee of the ESF (European Science Foundation). ESSC is a non-governmental and provides an independent forum for the European scientific community to debate a wide range of space science issues.
International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) - "IAA is a scientific institution devoted to fostering the development of astronautics for peaceful purposes, recognizing individuals who have distinguished themselves in a branch of science or technology related to astronautics and providing a program through which the membership can contribute to international endeavors in the advancement of aerospace science. At present the Academy is composed of 6 Honorary Members and 1135 Members and Corresponding members, from 60 countries, divided into four Sections: Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences."
International Astronautical Federation (IAF) - "IAF encourages the advancement of knowledge about space and the development and application of space assets for the benefit of humanity. It plays an important role in disseminating information, and in providing a significant world-wide network of experts in space development and utilization of space."
International Astronomical Union - The mission of the International Astronomical Union IAU is to promote and safeguard the science of astronomy in all its aspects through international cooperation. The IAU is also the sole internationally recognized authority for assigning designations to celestial bodies and surface features on such bodies.
International Council on the Aeronautical Sciences (ICAS) - "ICAS is a non-government, non-profit making, scientific organization which was established in 1957 to encourage the free interchange of information on aeronautical subjects. Recognized national associations of the world dedicated to the advancement of the science and engineering of aviation or of space are eligible for membership in ICAS and full participation in its activities."
International Institute of Space Law (IISL) - "IISL was founded by the International Astronautical Federation in 1960.
The purposes and objectives of the Institute include the cooperation with appropriate international organizations and national institutions in the field of space law, the carrying out of tasks for fostering the development of space law and studies of legal and social science aspects of the exploration and use of outer space and the holding of meetings, colloquia and competitions on juridical and social science aspects of space activities."
