Deep Space 1 Mission - Main page for the DS-1 mission. DS-1's prime objective was to test 12 advanced technologies in deep space to lower the cost and risk to future science-driven missions that use them for the first time. This is to be accomplished by a series of asteroid and comet flybys. Among the technologies tested is an ion engine and an autonomous navigation capability ("Remote Agent").
