Media Advisory: Canadian Space Agency & Private Sector Partners to Unveil a Project to Bring Satellite-Based Multimedia Services to Canadians

This Friday, April 14, 2000, John Manley, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Space Agency will hold a news conference at Telesat Canada to announce a public/private partnership that will significantly expand access to multimedia services for Canadians.

This announcement flows from a Canadian Space Agency call for proposals in which Canadian firms were asked to submit bids for the development, deployment and operation of a leading-edge high-speed multimedia communications satellite payload. The project promises to deliver cheaper, faster and more effective communications services to Canadians from coast to coast.
