Acosta Adds Depth to Media Relations and Crisis Communications Teams

Qorvis Communications announced today that Dean Acosta, NASA press secretary and deputy assistant administrator for public affairs, will join the agency as a managing director, effective Jan. 2. Acosta will help guide Qorvis' aerospace and technology clients, including Pratt & Whitney. He will also contribute to the firm's media relations and crisis communications teams.

Acosta served as chief spokesperson, press secretary and senior adviser to the NASA administrator and deputy administrator. His experience includes coordinating NASA's response to the shuttle Columbia accident in 2003.

"Dean's communications experience is incomparable, and he will be a major asset to all of our clients," said Qorvis Managing Partner Michael Petruzzello. "Dean will contribute great depth to both our crisis communications and technology teams - making him an excellent addition to our best and brightest."

Prior to NASA, Acosta spent 12 years as a television, radio and print journalist and received an Emmy award for investigative reporting. He has hosted his own radio show, written a newspaper column and covered the energy industry in the United States, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Austria and England.

"Throughout my time in Washington, DC, I have admired Qorvis as one of the best firms in the business, and I am looking forward to being part of their team," said Acosta.

Acosta is also an active member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. In his free time, he mentors aspiring reporters.
