WASHINGTON - NASA has completed a modification to convert the letter contract with United Space Alliance (USA), LLC, of Houston, to a fully defined contract covering space shuttle and International Space Station program operations for a base period from Oct. 1, 2006, through Sept. 30, 2010. The contract is valued at $6.34 billion.
The contract includes five, one-year options, thereafter totaling a potential period of performance of nine years to 2015.
Efforts under the Space Program Operations Contract include work and support for mission design and planning; software development and integration; astronaut and flight controller training; system integration; flight operations; vehicle processing, launch and recovery; vehicle sustaining engineering; and flight crew equipment processing. It is a cost reimbursement contract, with provisions for award and performance fees.
Work in support of this contract is performed at NASA's Johnson Space Center, Houston, Kennedy Space Center, Fla., Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, Ala., and other subcontractor locations USA deems appropriate to complete the work.
