Dennis Tito to Testify on Future of Space Tourism
DENNIS TITO TO TESTIFY ON FUTURE OF SPACE TOURISM
WHAT: Hearing on, "Space Tourism"
WHEN: Tuesday, June 26, 2001 - 2:30 P.M.
WHERE: 2318 Rayburn Building, Washington (WEBCAST)
Space tourist Dennis Tito will recount his trip to space and will advise the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics on the future benefits of private citizens going to space. Tito will be joined on the panel by NASA's Mike Hawes who will give NASA's position on space tourism and will discuss some of the safety and training issues involved with sending a non-professional astronaut into space. Rounding out the panel will be astronaut and space entrepreneur Buzz Aldrin and Rick Tumlinson, President of the Space Frontier Foundation who will discuss the future of space tourism and the government role, if any, in promoting it.
