CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

35th Annual Meeting for the

American Society for Gravitational and Space Research

 

20 - 23 November 2019

Sheraton Denver Downtown, Denver CO

Deadline is 1 June 2019

We are pleased to issue a Call for Abstracts for the 35th annual American Society for Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR) conference. The meeting will take place 20 - 23 November 2019 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown, Denver, CO. The annual ASGSR meeting provides a forum for the Life and Physical Sciences communities to meet and discuss their latest findings in gravitational and space research.

General abstracts (Graduate/Non-Student) can be submitted electronically no later than 1 June 2019 (undergraduate - 1 July 2019) using the abstract submittal form and instructions posted at xcdsystem.com/asgsr

*There is a $50 abstract submission fee. Please note that abstract fee contributes to your registration fee, and is not an extra payment. You will receive a discount code on your submission confirmation email that can be used on your registration. However, if you submit an abstract, and then do not register for the meeting, your abstract fee will not be refunded. All submitted abstracts will be peer-reviewed by members of the conference organizing committee and of ASGSR in the same field of expertise. Accepted abstracts by authors registered for the conference are published in the meeting program. The program is distributed at the meeting and available online. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit a full manuscript to the Journal of Gravitational and Space Research (ASGSR's refereed journal). Abstract notification will be emailed to non-student authors no earlier than 15 August 2019.

*Highschool and Middle School abstract submissions do not have a fee. The deadline for High School and Middle School abstracts is 1 October 2019.

Please indicate your preference for either an oral presentation or poster in the submission process. All abstracts will be reviewed, and although the preference for an oral presentation will be honored to the full extent possible, please understand that typically more requests are made than are speaking slots available. The Conference Organizing Committee will make the final selections after the review process. Abstracts scheduled for poster sessions will be assigned poster board space. The area allotted for each poster will be 4 ft tall x 4 ft wide. Each oral presentation will have 15 minutes(comprising a 13 minute presentation with 2 minutes of Q and A).  

ASGSR membership is not required for abstract submission, but meeting registration and attendance is required for oral or poster presentation and inclusion in the meeting program. Because of processing deadlines, the Program Committee will not be able to include an abstract submitted after the deadlines indicated above.

Students: There will be both graduate and undergraduate poster competitions for student abstracts accepted for posters. Society members will judge the poster competition. Monetary awards and certificates will be given during the student mixer, and recipients will also be recognized at banquet scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2019. Students must be present to receive their award. Students participate in the competition by presenting their data to a series of anonymous judges during their scheduled poster session. Student competition winners will be encouraged to submit a short communication article to the ASGSR journal of Gravitational and Space Research. All students are expected to coordinate with their advisors when submitting an abstract for the conference.


Student Travel Assistance: Students requesting consideration for travel assistance must check the box on the abstract submittal form. Student travel assistance can be up to $500. Funding is limited, and not all students will receive travel assistance. The conference organizing committee will select the students eligible for travel assistance by performing a joint review of the submitted abstracts. All students will be notified of their eligibility to receive travel funds by 30 August 2019. If a student has been notified as eligible to receive travel funding, the student must be the presenting author at the conference in order to receive travel funding assistance. Students who have been selected to receive travel funding will receive their funding after their presentation. If a student does not check the box they will not be considered for travel assistance funding.
