MirCorp Names Andrew Eddy to Top Management Post

Press Release From: MirCorp
Posted: Thursday, February 17, 2000

London, England (17 February, 2000) MirCorp is expanding its management team with the appointment of Andrew Eddy as Senior Vice President-Business Development, effective March 1.

Eddy comes to MirCorp from the Canadian Space Agency, where he has been central in forging Canada's innovative approach to commercialization of the International Space Station (ISS). Under Eddy's management, Canada signed the first commercial ISS deals without government subsidies and established a vast array of international business contacts with firms interested in flying their products on the orbital facility.

"Andrew Eddy is a valuable addition to our company," MirCorp President Jeffrey Manber said. "He has helped pioneer the commercial space station era, and his new position will allow even more innovation using the Mir."

MirCorp is ushering in a new era of space operations by offering the Russian Mir space station for truly commercial purposes. The company acts as a facilitator, beginning with the establishment of business conditions for Mir's use and continuing through successful completion of the activity on board the station.

MirCorp's shareholders include RSC Energia the builder and operator of Mir, and venture capital firms.

As part of its commitment to Mir's future commercial use, MirCorp helped fund the launch of a Progress unmanned re-supply spacecraft to the station earlier this month. It marked the first such mission organized with the support of private funding, and provided a supply of fuel and air that will be used to prepare Mir for an upcoming manned mission in March. The manned flight with two RSC Energia cosmonauts is to launch 45 days, and also will be funded in part by MirCorp.
