The first major piece of hardware manufactured in Huntsville for Ares I-X
What: Teledyne Brown and NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center joint press conference announcing shipment of the Ares I-X Roll Control System (RoCS).

Details: Teledyne Brown will ship an Ares I-X Roll Control System (RoCS) which was designed and manufactured by Teledyne Brown Engineering under contract to NASA's MSFC to Kennedy Space Center. The System is made up of four thrusters which when fired will control the roll of the Ares I-X rocket. The RoCS also will help maintain a constant roll attitude during ascent until first stage separation. The RoCS is designed to break up on impact after it falls into the Atlantic Ocean and will not be recovered.
