On 9 March the deepest view of the Universe ever, the NASA/ESA Hubble Ultra Deep Field, will be unveiled. American and European astronomers have pointed Hubble to a single region of the sky for 28 days and te resulting Ultra Deep Field will show galaxies that are 2.5-3 times fainter than any existing images, enabling the study of thousands of hitherto unseen galaxies at the earliest times.

The NASA/ESA Hubble Ultra Deep Field is likely to remain the deepest image of the Universe for the next decade or even two.

This historic image will be unveiled to the media on 9 March 2004 at 15:30 CET when the amazing high-resolution colour images, including special zoomviews will be posted on ESA's Hubble web site http://www.spacetelescope.org/
