Description

NASA/JSC has a requirement for 390 "International Space Station with Space Shuttle Orbiter" scale models to be used as awards and presented in recognition of excellence in the Space Program.     This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.     This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote.    

The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than 01/05/05. Prospective quoters shall notify this office of their intent to submit a quotation. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B". STATEMENT OF WORK

SCALE MODEL OF INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION (ISS) WITH SPACE SHUTTLE ORBITER FOR USE AS AN AWARD

Requirements

390 Models shall be manufactured. 130 models shall be delivered to each of the following centers: NASA Headquarters, NASA Johnson Space Center, and NASA Kennedy Space Center. Delivery to all three centers shall be no later than May 4, 2005.

Scale:

  • Model shall be 1/400.

Material:

  • Offerors are encouraged to be creative in their solution of the model and base material; however, the materials proposed shall be appropriate for technical accuracy and enhance the overall aesthetics, not detract from the model.
  • Model shall be mounted on a base not to exceed 6" X 8" with sufficient area for an engraved plaque area of 4" X 1 _". NOTE: The engraved plaque and engraving is not part of the requested quote.
  • Model shall be mounted on pylons approximately 5 inches tall.
  • Overall desktop shall not be greater than 9 _" long, 7 _" wide, and 8" deep.

Packaging/Shipping:

  • Models shall be packed individually.
  • Model shall come in an appropriate shipping container, properly protected.
  • Model shall be delivered fully assembled.
  • Model shall be durable enough and packaged properly to endure routine shipping.

Configuration:

  • The model shall be built so the various modules, solar arrays, etc are depicted in the "Assembly Complete Configuration" as identified July, 2004 including changes identified at that time.
  • Main solar arrays shall be tilted at a 30 to 45 degree angle with respect to the main module axis.
  • Space Shuttle Orbiter shall be mounted in correct position docked to the ISS.

    • Progress (or Progress may be replaced by ESA ATV)
