Message from the Administrator:
NASA Diversity and Inclusion Assessment Survey

NASA and our senior management team are committed to practicing the principles of diversity and inclusion in everything we do. As the agency's Policy Statement on Diversity and Inclusion states, "Diversity and Inclusion are integral to mission success at NASA."

To assess the current state of diversity and inclusion throughout the agency, as well as at your center, NASA has contracted with Westat, a research organization in Rockville, Md., to develop and administer a Diversity and Inclusion Assessment Survey for civil service staff as part of the NASA Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Framework. NASA will use the survey results to establish a diversity and inclusion snapshot, identify our strengths and challenges, and design future activities for the continuing enhancement of diversity and inclusion efforts at the agency.

Westat will begin administering this Web-based survey in a few days. NASA civil service employees will receive an e-mail invitation to complete the survey from Westat, with a unique, direct link to the survey. Upon completion and analysis of the survey, the results both for your center and agencywide will be posted on the Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity website and your center's website.

Individual submissions by survey participants will go directly to Westat, who will keep all responses strictly confidential. Westat will provide only overall and group results to NASA. No individuals will be identifiable in any reports of findings.

The survey will cover the following areas:

* Your understanding and awareness of diversity at NASA
. Your perceptions about senior leaders, managers and supervisors in your current branch, division or directorate
* Your work experiences at NASA
* Your awareness of diversity and inclusion information and programs at NASA
* Your ratings on overall effectiveness of NASA diversity and inclusion efforts

I fully endorse this effort and strongly encourage all NASA civil service employees to participate in the upcoming survey.

Charlie B.
This notice is being sent agencywide to all NASA civil service employees by NASA INC in the Office of Communications at NASA Headquarters.
