To All Members of the NASA Family:
Congress and the President have reached an agreement on a funding measure that reopens the federal government and allows all of us to get back to work. More detailed information will be forthcoming on how best to return to your duties, but I want to take this opportunity to welcome you back.
I understand there will be uncertainty and questions as we return to our offices, and I want to assure you that NASA's leadership is committed to providing you with as much information and support as possible to address your concerns and put our vital scientific research and technology programs back on track.
We've been away for some time now, so please don't expect that we can return to normalcy in a day or two or even a week. Safety should be paramount in our restart efforts and I really encourage each of you to take a little time each hour to check on your co-workers and offer encouragement and comfort where necessary. We are one team - the best team in government - and we're at our absolute best when we take time to take care of each other!
This has been a challenging time of sacrifice for the entire NASA family, but I am thankful we now have the opportunity to move forward once again. I plan to speak with you about the path ahead in the coming days, once folks have had a chance to settle in. Until then, if you have questions, please contact your immediate supervisors and we will find the answers together.
Thank you again for your public service, your dedication, and your patience throughout this unfortunate process, and I personally want to express my appreciation for your continued service to NASA, the nation, and the American people.
