MRPO Daily Status Report 06-21-02

GMT Date: 172

Calendar Date: 06/21/02

Increment: 5

Stage: UF2

Week 2

STS-111 landed at Edwards Air Base in California Wednesday. MRPO payloads returned on STS-111 were: BTR, CGBA, CPCG-H, PCG-EGN, PCS, and ZCG samples.

Payloads currently on-board ISS: ADVASC, BSTC, InSPACE, MAMS, MEPS, MSG, PFMI, SAMS, StelSys, STES-8, SUBSA and ZCG. InSpace will not operate during this increment.

Status:
MRPO payloads ADVASC, MAMS, SAMS and STES 8 continue nominal unattended operations. EXPRESS RACKS 1 and 4 (ER1 & ER4) are powered and supporting payload operations. ER2 is scheduled to be repowered June 24. ER3 is installed in the US Lab and will be checked out later. ER5 was checked out during Increment 4 and powered down.
The Medium Rate Communication Outage Recorder (MCOR) is experiencing occasional over-temperature conditions requiring it to be turned-off. When MCOR is turned-off, payload data is lost during loss of signal periods.

ADVASC is downlinking nominal health and status data and plants are visible.

BSTC was activated Tuesday to support Stelsys operations Wednesday through today.

Stelsys operations were successfully completed today and BSTC has been deactivated.

MAMS is operating nominally in the quasi-steady mode. HiRAP is currently turned-off.

AMS data is available on the acceleration measurement web page.

MEPS is stowed in ER3. It will be transferred to ER1 during week 3 and initial operations are scheduled for week 6.

MSG checkout will be initiated in week 4.

PFMI is stowed in the US Lab and is scheduled to operate in the MSG late in this increment.

SAMS equipment in all racks is operating nominally. SAMS data is also being posted to the acceleration measurement web page.

The third and final set of StelSys samples were processed in the BSTC today. The processed samples have been stored in the ARTIC-1 refrigerator/freezer where they will remain until their return on 9A.

STES-8, with all six growth chambers activated, is downlinking nominal health and status data.

SUBSA is stowed in the US Lab and will be operated in the MSG following completion of MSG checkout.

ZCG samples will be placed in the ZCG furnace and activated during week 3.

Near-term Outlook:

Week 2 (6/17-6/23) -Planning for this week was based on approximately 12 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload operations. All MRPO related activities that were planned for this week have been accomplished.

Week 3 (6/24-6/30) - Preliminary planning is being based on approximately 21 hours of crew time availability for NASA payload operations. Progress 7 will be undocked to de-orbit and Progress 8 will be launched and docked with the ISS during this week. ER2 will be activated. ZCG samples will be loaded into the furnace and activated. ADVASC sampling will be conducted, MEPS will be transferred to ER1 and MSG checkout will begin.
