** NGC 720: Chandra Casts Cloud On Alternative To Dark Matter

New evidence from NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory challenges an alternative theory of gravity that eliminates the need for dark matter. The observation also narrows the field for competing forms of dark matter, the elusive material thought to be the dominant form of matter in the universe. http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2002/0021/

** A High-Energy Visionary Wins Nobel Prize

The Chandra team was thrilled by the news that Riccardo Giacconi will be a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2002 "for pioneering contributions to astrophysics, which have led to the discovery of cosmic X-ray sources." http://chandra.harvard.edu/chronicle/0402/nobel/
