NASA Participatory Exploration Summit
The Participatory Exploration Summit will gather together invited "Web 2.0" experts and other technology entrepreneurs from Silicon Valley and San Francisco to discuss ways that NASA can make its activities more accessible through the use of online and collaborative technologies. NASA Ames will host this small gathering on Tuesday, June 26th. Today's generation of tech-savvy youth, young professionals, and thought leaders are demanding a new level of accessibility and transparency in their institutions, one that exists on the level of dialog and experience rather than traditional notions of education and outreach. NASA's Office of Strategic Planning aims to shape NASA's message differently and incorporate new technologies in the way in which the message is delivered. Combined with the growth of immersive and collaborative online technologies such as virtual worlds, the time is ripe to host an event gathering NASA stakeholders and external thought leaders to discuss the opportunity these technologies afford. The Participatory Exploration Summit is set for Tuesday, June 26th. Please check back here for information on follow-up activities, reports, and future opportunities to participate in online forums.
