Frank C. Sietzen, Jr. Journalist, Author, and AnalystFrank Sietzen, Jr. was a member of the launch team for the Space.com Internet Space News Service and helped design its B2B programs. Sietzen is currently Editor-In-Chief of Ad Astra magazine, published by the National Space Society. His areas of specialization have included ballistic missile evolution, commercial space transportation, and military space programs. Sietzen also writes a weekly column called Spacelift Washington for the NASA Watch and SpaceRef news services. He has been a writer, editor, and analyst for such publications as Military Space, Space Business News, Popular Mechanics, Space Calendar, Space Policy, Washington correspondent for SpaceDaily and reporter for United Press International. Sietzen is the author of five books, including World Guide To Commercial Launch Vehicles, Apollo 11: America on the Moon, Guide to NASA Contracts, Quest for Space, and the upcoming National Security Space in the 21st Century: Challenges and Change, for publication in spring, 2002. He has covered missile and space launches from such locations as Kourou French Guiana, Cape Canaveral, Florida, Vandenberg Air Base California, and Baikonur Cosmodrome Russia, witnessing launches of everything from a Saturn V to an Ariane 4 and a Soyuz. His personal interviews include Neil Armstrong, Mike Collins, Buzz Aldrin, Dan Goldin, Chuck Yeager, Scott Crossfield, Gen. Howell M. Estes III, Gen. Thomas Moorman, Richard Truly, Bob Crippen, Sally Ride and more than a dozen Space Shuttle crews, members of Congress and international space and military leaders. His newsletter coverage of military and commercial space has won awards from the Newsletter Association of America (1992) and his magazine coverage has won awards from the Magazine Design Council (1999).
